As the name itself suggests, the Valdarno is the wide valley carved by the river Arno throughout the course of the centuries.
The landscape is picturesque and unique, the valley is surrounded to the north-east of the Pratomagno and south-west from the hills of Chianti, its towns and villages are surrounded by a lush green nature and large areas with oak woods.
While crossing the Valley you will meet many charming towns, each with its square and its church and its small but interesting museum.
Among all of you should visit the town of San Giovanni Valdarno, which is about half an hour drive from the Agriturismo Anna, as the town was the birthplace of Masaccio in December 21 of 1401, a versatile artist and innovator of the Italian Renaissance. In Corso Italia, the center of the town of San Giovanni Valdarno, you can visit the birthplace of the great painter.
Strolling out from the main roads that croos through all the Valdarno, you will discover the wonderful nature of this valley: fields of olive trees, green woods and the “balze” that are reminiscent of the prehistoric origins of the area.
Valdarno also includes many fashion outlet stores such as The Mall where you will find boutiques of Gucci, Cavalli, Armani and the outlets of Prada and Dolce & Gabbana.
